Over the last couple of weeks, Spiritleaf opened six new locations to become the largest recreational cannabis retailer in Canada. Atlantic Cultivation Ltd., the Master Franchisee for the Spiritleaf brand of retail cannabis stores for Newfoundland and Labrador, opened its first Spiritleaf location in St. John’s in Newfoundland. And with the opening, the Spiritleaf brand is now officially from coast to coast in Canada. The location is in the Waterford Plaza at 673 Topsail St. When it acquired the Master Franchise from Inner Spirit Holdings earlier in the Spring, Atlantic Cultivation reported plans to open a number of Spiritleaf stores. In addition to the Topsail Rd location, additional stores are being prepared for opening in the province including two more in St. John’s, one in Gander and one in Grand Falls-Windsor. Atlantic Cultivation Founder and COO Chris Crosbie also noted at the time that construction is well underway on the production facility at its 110,000 square foot facility at 50 Captain Prim Dr. in Kenmount Crossing in St. John’s. Additional stores opened in in Don Mills, Little Italy and Bloor West Village in Toronto, in The Edinburgh Market Place at 492 Edinburgh Road, South Guelph and on Wellington Road in Ottawa. The Spiritleaf retail cannabis store network presently counts about 53 franchised and corporate-owned stores operating from British Columbia to Newfoundland. Additional stores are scheduled to open this month in Calgary, Red Deer, Ottawa & London. Over 30 more are planned this year in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
